When it comes to healing, Chuck is forever practical. To him, the fancy theoretical ideas have no real value if they cannot transform pain. If a concept does not grow corn, as Sun Bear would describe it, nor prove itself helpful in the everyday world where people suffer, then he does not value it. This is why he moved on from his study of philosophy and continued into psychology and then onto sociology and counselling psychology.
